New Surpie Show to Render unto Caesar’s Palace

Well, things are certainly percolating in trade show town.

Rumors were abuzz at the ASD/AMD Trade Show in Las Vegas in late February about changes coming to that show, joined by more than the usual talk of cobbling together a new, independent trade show for surpie nation.

Of course, there was plenty of time to ponder these matters. Traffic was notably light, especially for a winter ASD/AMD show. Yet most exhibitors found that the size and quality of the business they wrote offset the lack of volume in the aisles. And that’s all we’ve got to say about that.

Anyway, it looks like the new trade show is a very tangible and happening event. It’s called the Army Navy Military Expo, which in title bodes well, and will be held at Caesar’s Palace on August 12th to the 14th, 2007, concurrently with the next ASD/AMD show.

The big news eminating from ASD/AMD is a change of locale for just the Las Vegas Convention Center occupants, who will be moving to the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Convention Center for only the winter 2008 show. The summer 2007 and summer 2008 shows will be held at the LVCC as usual.

We, that is us, ANSOM magazine, will be on both of these stories like flies at a barbecue. Please call and/or e-mail us with your thoughts on these proceedings.

More info about all of these developments are in our Industry News and ASD/AMD Show Review sections, beginning on pages 6 and 22 respectively.
