Students of all ages, genders and grade levels are eager utilizers of backpacks, knapsacks and other transport products. And the army/navy store is ready to shoulder the demand for these scholastic essentials.
In the modern era, a backpack must comfortably store and protect not only books, lunchbags and writing implements, but also laptop computers, cell phones and MP3 players. Today’s school-suitable backpack must also be constructed in a manner that offers optimal storage space while providing secure protection for expensive electronics.
However, for the non tech-oriented student, the basic canvas backpack enjoys a strong following, according to Ted Szewczyk of Fox Outdoor Products in Melrose Park, Illinois.
“The old 22-ounce canvas bags are doing well. They’re durable and hold up to a lot of use,” said Szewczyk.
Olive drab and black are generally the preferred colors. Camel and khaki are also available, Szewczyk noted.
Fox offers backpacks made from tactical polyester with a heavy PVC backing that renders them weather-and-stain-resistant. These offer excellent durability at an affordable price point.
For students requiring more space or more sophistication, Fox’s three day assault packs with MOLLE attachment points are strong sellers. The assault pack also features padded shoulder straps for comfort.
Fox’s Rio Grande line is ideal for the student, according to Szewczyk.
“The Rio Grande is available in an assortment of digital camouflage patterns and in solids. It has a padded hip belt, padded back panel with ventiliation channels and three different sizes and price points,” said Szewczyk.
The Rio Grande is designed for both comfort and style. Its 25, 45 and 75 liter capacities offer the right size/price ratio for bicyclists, high school and college students respectively.
Heavy canvas duffel bags are sought out primarily by college students who attend sleepaway schools. The bags are used to transport clothing and amenities between home and dorm.
The army/navy store, with its inventory of high quality yet inexpensive military surplus duffels is the best place for a student to bag it.
